OPUS38 STUDIO POLICY AND GUIDLINES

Opus38 Studio Membership

Opus38 Studio offers two types of membership

  • Weekly lessons = 44 private lessons per year.

  • Semi-monthly lessons = 22 private lessons per year.

  • Studio offers In-Person and Distance Learning. 

Included in the Membership

  • Membership offers an average of six supplemental workshops and performance opportunities throughout the year. 

Membership Rates 

  • Membership fee is a flat rate each month. Members are guaranteed their full number of lessons regardless of their membership commencement date.


Studio Closures and Holidays (September 2023- August 2024) 

  • Thanksgiving Break- Tuesday, November 21st, 2023- Saturday, November 25th, 2023

  • Winter Break- Tuesday, December 19th, 2023- Saturday, December 30th, 2023

  • Flex Week- Lessons by appointment only- Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024- Saturday, January 6th, 2024

  • Spring Break- Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 – Saturday, April 6th, 2024

  • Flex Week- Lessons by appointment only- Tuesday, June 25th, 2024  – Saturday, June 29th, 2024

  • Summer Break- Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024 – Saturday, July 13th, 2024


Membership Attendance Policies

Tardiness

  • Membership reserves a specific slot for a student each week.

  • Please arrive on time. Lesson times can not be extended for students who arrive late.

  • Distance Learning: Instructor will wait for up to 15 minutes before logging off. No show will result in forfeiting your lesson.

Illness or Quarantine

  • Students are advised to stay home if they are ill. Online lessons can be arranged during their regular scheduled time.

  • Please let the studio know if you would like to convert your in person to online lesson as soon as possible. The studio will update the portal with your online meeting ID for your lesson and prepare materials for your lesson. 

Cancelling Lessons 

  • Please use the student portal to cancel and/or reschedule lessons.

  • Lessons can be cancelled up to 24- hours prior to your lesson.  

  • Cancelling your lesson less than 24 hours prior to your lesson will result in forfeiting your lesson.

  • Lessons cancelled by the studio for reasons other than scheduled closures or holidays will be made up during Flex Week.

Makeup Lessons

  • It is the students responsibility to book a makeup lesson via the portal.

  • Makeup lessons are not guaranteed as open spaces are limited.

  • Makeup lesson lengths may vary depending on availability.

  • Makeup lessons can not be rescheduled.

  • Students have 30 days to sign-up for a makeup lesson. Makeup lesson credit expires in 30 days.

  • Lesson credit fees can not be refunded or credited after the expiration date.

Flex Week 

  • Flex Week is offered twice a year: a) one week after Winter Break. b) one week before Summer Break.

  • There are no regular lessons during Flex Week. Flex Week is designated for makeup lessons due to studio cancellations and/or teacher absence.

  • If students do not require a makeup lesson during Flex Week, they will have three weeks off during Winter Break and Summer Break.

  • The studio may offer optional workshops for members during Flex Week. 


Performance Opportunities 

Workshop and Recital

  • Opus38 provides workshops and recitals on a regular basis. Attendance is never mandatory. 

  • Workshop and recital dates are posted at the beginning of the school year. They can be found on the studio portal and website.

Masterclass Opportunities 

  • Opus38 invites special guest performers and teachers.

  • Certain events may require an additional fee. The payment will be added to your account after sign up. 

  • Masterclass fees cannot be refunded or credited.

Exams, Festivals, and Other Performance Opportunities

  • Music examinations, festivals, competitions, and other performance opportunities are offered through various music teachers’ associations. They may be held at the studio or off premises.

  • Students are responsible for the cost of materials and fees for participation.


General Rules

Studio Rules 

  • Student must have a fully functional acoustic piano OR a full-size weighted 88- key digital keyboard.

  • Acoustic pianos must be maintained and tuned twice a year. 

  • Complete lesson materials and written assignments. 

  • Bring all materials to each lesson.

  • Treat the teachers, students, and studio property with respect.

  • Food and beverages are not permitted on or around the piano. 

Child Safety

  • To ensure your child’s safety, please pick them up promptly after class/workshop. 

  • Children are under supervision during their instruction time only. 

  • The studio is not responsible for supervising children outside of teaching time.

  • Opus38 Studio admits students of any race, color, national/ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, religious affiliation, and ability. It does not discriminate in its admission, retention, or educational policies.
